"Written in 1920, R.U.R. took the world by storm and is famous for having popularized the word Robot - it was coined by Capek's brother Josef from the Slovak word robota, meaning drudgery or servitude.
Old Rossum may have been crazy, but he was able to discover the secret of creating artificial life on his remote island. Once his son arrives he streamlines the process and starts producing robots. Several decades later his company produces the workers to the world. What happens, once the robots outnumber us, when humanity starts arising within them? Is it a glitch to be eradicated, or are we the glitch?
Come on down to Schmeater and see this fundamental piece of sci-fi for the stage. Rarely produced, R.U.R. will astound and startle. Do not miss it!
